Effects of upstream and downstream ramp on flow characteristics over a cylindrical weir

Cylindrical weirs are one of the most commonly employed hydraulic structures to measure flow, compare other types same width they pass larger discharge. This paper presents an experimental work together with a CFD simulation study effects geometric characteristics cylindrical weir and ramp placed upstream or downstream on discharge coefficient. Three different diameters three angles under discharges were utilized. The results show that represented by diameter affects coefficient when there is no ramp. was observed decrease as slope increased, however increased noted increase. A mathematical relationship developed in order calculate flow passes over depending its diameter.
